I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop College in 1985. After graduation, I relocated to Los Angeles, California, where I worked for Lorimar Telepictures, The Walt Disney Corporation, and Bertelsmann Music Group in Marketing and Production.  

 

After giving birth to my third child, I changed careers and began working from home for a small calendar publishing company, Shades of Color. I wore many hats, but the one that I loved most was as a writer and graphic designer. I stayed with the company, working from home and raising my three children for twenty years. The company has expanded to one of the major African-American gift companies in the country. 

 

In 2012, I moved to North Carolina and started working as a freelance Graphic Designer. I have helped several small businesses with logo design, business cards, website graphics, posters, t-shirts, and more. 

 

I have recently added children's book illustrator to my list of talents and have successfully illustrated four published books.  In addition to illustrating books, I also work with writers to layout and design book covers and inside pages. I have recently written my own children's book, inspired by my granddaughter and I'm currently working on illustrations. I hope to have it published soon!
